I had to cut a small portion of the tip of the spigot for bucket to sit level on counter surface. I also had to wrap the threads with electrical tape (3 times around) in order to make a tight seal. Otherwise very pleased with size durability utility. Love the volume markings extra room for fruit melomels.
Great product and great service
bring the nipple and the air lock as well is a good option for beginners
Love these, easy to clean, very stable on the shelf, holds over 7 gallons. I have 4 of them. Very fast service!
Fantastic fermenter! I love how you can still sort of see through it. Perfect for my mid-sized cider batches.
Ordered this to put mash in. Arrived on time just as expected. Spigots are not predrilled but I typically do not use mine. Slightly see through which is a bonus. I like the thinner sidewalks as I heat externally too. Only downfall I can see if I wish they had screw top lids as these lids are quite hard to seal properly. All in all, These are well worth the money.
Only 4 stars because of the difficulty with the lid and spigot assembly. I have not fermented yet, though it should go well. There must have been some design changes with the spigot since the instructions and some comments were made. I used a 1/2" drill for the spigot plug, but there is good flow. There are 2 gaskets. one must be place on the bucket in the recess at the top of the hole. The other gasket must be placed on the spigot. Using only one gasket, the spigot bottoms out too soon and will probably leak. Using both, I have no leaks and did not use teflon tape or any thread caulking. Also be careful not to cross thread the spigot.I also thought the lid would not close tightly. I gave up trying and used bungees and weights to keep the lid on.BUT After inspecting the lid and the bucket rim, I found there is a latch and it cannot be closed all at once even when I placed it upside down and jumped on it! This is what worked for me. Thinking of the lid as clock I put pressure with one hand at 6 o'clock until it snapped. Then with one knee, I kept pressure at 6 o'clock while pressing down with my hands on the left and right sides. I worked my way up to 12 o'clock. Then, checking from the sides, I looked for any high points and pressed those down. I tested it filled with with water and no leaks. Letting the water drain out the spigot with my finger on the vent, water eventually slows as the vacuum inside increased. Air tight and the spigot rotates 360 degrees at any time! This should have enough head room for Krausen, I will be fermenting a 23 liter Ale.
The fermenter is fine for tinkering with small batches. The bottom spout is a nice feature but haven’t tried it yet. The only thing I didn’t like was the really cheap airlock. It works and all but it’s a cloudy kind of plastic and really cheap. I put my nice heavy duty clear one on and now all is good now. For $30 bucks it’s a good deal.Quick ship too!

The bucket is well made and I like the handles. I guess I will use it to store grain, because the lid is crap. Won't seal even after almost standing on it (200+ pounds). I can't use it as a fermenter.
I didn't use the spigot , cause I just set on my workbench in the garage it's a little cool out there so I tape a seed bed warmer to it with a variable switch that I picked up online cheap
Good quality recommend if you need one
Good product and easy for fermented
I love these buckets for fermentation. Its nice having the grommet already installed. The airlock is nice too. I have had some trouble with the spicket install. Just as you get it tight , it pops on the threads and lets go. I have added silicone and stop just before it pops.
This one works great!
I like the design, but the spout is junk and poorly located and has too loose of a fit to leave it sideways as suggested.. The two piece spout that allows the spigot to turn would greatly improve the system. I drilled a hole higher up so the spout would clear the floor / counter top. The extra space above high gravity beers is great.
I bought this as a primary fermenter for 5 gallons of wine and it is a good size with plenty of headroom for expansion. My only complaint is that the spigot extends below the bottom of the bucket so if the bucket is placed on a table or countertop, it either has to propped up or positioned so the spigot hangs over the edge.
So easy to set up works great
They work great for mead and beer plenty of room for bigger beers and mead
This is the perfect bucket
Only downside I have is that you drill the spigot hole yourself. Otherwise it’s a great budget fermenter. Had the most vigorous fermentation so far in one of these. Will buy again if I need them.
I was preparing to post a one star review and take some pictures of the spigot when I realized the “short†neck of the spigot wasn’t really a problem. It comes with a plastic nut for the end of the spigot, but the bucket itself has threading that will secure it without the need for the nut. I just spun around the rubber washer so it tapered into the bucket and screwed it into bucket itself. I used a 7/8†drill bit to open the hole too. If you used something larger you would cut out the internal threading in the bucket so use the right bit.
This is a excellent fermenter.
Very good size for a 5 gallon batch. There are 2 problems with the bucket:1- the lid is loose and doesn’t have any mechanism to tighten it on the bucket. My fear is fruit flies and ants and I ended up with piece of 3/4†plywood to weight the lid down and use other weights to uniformly put pressure on the lid. Drill a 1†hole in the center accommodate the bubbler. Designers should allow a partial twisting of the lid to firmly hold the lid down.2- spigot doesn’t tighten correctly. It comes with a hex nut but the nut is for a different bucket design and is useless in this case.Drill a smaller hole, dead center, and try not to damage the threads. Use plenty of Teflon tape. When completely tightened, spigot will not align vertically, so beware. I would have fired the designer who dreamed of this installation3- if you position the spigot in vertical orientation the tip goes below the floor of the bucket. Now you have to raise the bucket on 2X4’s to keep the tip sanitary.Other than these headaches, the bucket is ok, good quality and good size.
It is a great value since it comes complete with spigot and air lock. I would have given it 5 stars but the threading on the bucket wasn't water tight even after teflon tape. I was able to patch the hole with JB Weld Water Weld which is NSF 61 approved for drinking water. ( I work at a water treatment plant so I know this is safe). I then drilled a new hole in the bucket and installed the spigot. This worked great! My advice is to just not drill out the hole where it is threaded and drill a different hole for the spigot.
Very good. My only complaint is that the handles are somewhat sharp and should be filed down and molded thicker. Carrying this thing when full cuts into your hands more than similar products I have used.
Shipped fast and they seal great. Would highly recommend for fermenting in plastic.
These buckets hold up well to heat and make good ferment buckets.
Bought 2, they need to improve the spigot attachment or offer a plug with the purchase. Easy to strip. Use caution when moving bucket to fermentation location, tapping spigot may cause you a mess!
