This is slightly beefier than the hydrometer that I got from my father in law. That's important because these things break all of the time. The thermometer is nice because you have to adjust the reading depending on the temperature.

I loved using this thing, but unfortunately today it slipped out of my hand as I was setting it down (literally dropped from a height of 1") and it shattered into a million pieces. And I do mean a million, little metal balls everywhere!I would buy another one but shipping is high for a single item. And sadly Amazon doesn't stock these ones (none of theirs have a built-in thermometer) so I have to get a non-thermo kind :(

It was easy to read an use. I did not use the thermometer feature so I cannot comment on that.

Years ago we purchased a hydrometer, and I really could not ever read it due to the small print, and so with my eyes not getting any younger, we purchased this model and find it much easier to read...

Very handy and easy to use and understand. I recommend it to anyone who is home brewing.

I was not sure about getting it after reading about how fragile it is. It is very thin, and easily breakable, but by the same token all hydrometers will break if you mishandle them. Comes in a very snug fitting case, so as long as you are diligent it should last you for years. The reason I love it is because I can tell with certainty when a beer is done, minimize bottle grenades!

Saved time with this hydrometer with thermometer in it for making the subtle correction in specific gravity. Seems to work fine after the last brew.

At one time I had a hydro that had degrees F/Correction Value aligned with the thermo. Very convenient, read the gravity, check the thermo for the correction value, done. This hydro misses the mark a little bit. On side you have a degrees F/C scale. On the other side, you have a simple table of corrections...it's not aligned with the thermo. So you need to read the temp on one side, flip the hydro over, and then figure your correction value. Not a huge deal but still...

It's a hydrometer and thermometer combo. What more can you say? I broke my last one which worked just fine and this is a replacement.

I was still using the hydrometer that came with my kit for the last year, I had recently bought the finishing hydrometer and noticed the quality of it, and I have to say having both hydrometers has added a level of accuracy to my notes. I can defiantly see the difference in the quality over the one that came with my kit. Having a readable temperature gauge built into the unit is a nice addition. I no longer have to use my temp pen to perform a correction factor for my sample it?s on the hydrometer. Do yourself a favor and buy this and the finishing hydrometer and feel confident with your readings.

I bought this as a replacement for a 20 year old one that my son dropped and broke. I was looking for one with temp adjust scale and easy to read numbers (proper beer scale). This has both.

Great for recording gravities and helping you make better beer. But be very careful, this glass is the farthest thing from strong. Broken from a tip over in hydrometer. Upgraded to a refractometer, and that was a great upgrade especially since it uses less beer for readings.

This was my first hydrometer, and I really loved it right up until I dropped it :-(. It makes taking samples much easier as you can get the temp and the S.G. in one shot.

Often homebrewers just read the numbers and forget to cross reference for temp adjustment. This all in one tool helps the lazy brewer in all of us to ensure an accurate reading.

This is great on taking the guess work out of the correction for temperture for gravity readings. As with 99% of hydrometers out there, they are a bit fragile so treat with care.

Never have to use a thermometer and a hyrometer again. Cuz both measurements are in one place!
