    Description

    • Inspired by one of the most iconic pale ales in the country: Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale. A simple recipe that creates a complex yet easy to drink brew
    • Includes Magnum and Perle hops but what really makes this recipe shine are the aroma and dry hop additions of Cascade
    • Estimated ABV: 5.5%
    • Estimated IBUs: 38
    • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

Our Cali Mountain Pale Ale is inspired by one of the most iconic pale ales in the country: Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale. This pale ale is a fairly simple recipe, consisting of ultralight malt extract, Crystal 60L, and four hop additions.  This being said, don't be fooled.  The flavors blend together perfectly, creating a complex yet easy to drink homebrew.  The bittering hop additions are Magnum and Perle which provide a clean bitterness that balances the sweetness from the Crystal 60L malt perfectly.  The aroma hop and dry hop additions are both Cascade, providing a citrus & floral aroma as fresh as the forests in California's mountains!

    • Makes 5 gallons
    • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.052-57
    • SRM (Color Range): 8
    • IBUs: 38
    • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 5.5%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

        Good one

Consistently good West Coast style ale. Most who have tried this one like it. Followed directions and turned out as expected.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Clone

I made this Beer 6 weeks ago, just transfered into (26) - 22 oz. bottles. Easier to make with Extract, not so easy with All Grain being my 22 Qt. Pot couldn't hold 6 Ibs. of Grain. All went well, Fermated 12 Days then transfered to a Clearing Tank for 12 Days, now Bottled for 12-14 Days to Carbonate so to enjoy with Family. SG: 1.052, FG: 1.010, ABV: 7%. Now waiting to taste ! From what I did taste in the Specific Gravity Tube, it was a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

        Clone?

A decent brew, but certainly not a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone. Different ingredients and completely different taste.

        Cali on my mind

I jazz this recipe up with 1lb of caramel malt and secondary ferm with 2 oz of HBC 342 experimental hops. Oh S**t this is good. A little bit smoother across the tongue, a little sweet on the front, great citrus taste in the back and a wonderful aroma. It does not last and a hit at my American Legion meetings.

Great kit, can't beat the price.

This is a nice kit, and produced a clean, crisp and drinkable ale... doesn't really taste like Sierra Nevada, but that's likely some issue on my end. It is still very enjoyable! A great brew kit, especially at this price.

Bests SNPA in side by side

I had a blind side by side with a few friends and they all chose this over the SN. 'Nuff said? This is my 5th time brewing it, I stick to the recipe and try to be spot on with my hop timings and then quickly cool it down to pitching temp. I do a dry hop of 3-4 days.

        Hoppy goodness

Clean. Hoppy without being too hoppy. The dry hopping works magic for the aroma. It smells amazing. My batch finished at 5.7%. Carbonation is spot on! This kit turned out a great pale ale. I WILL be brewing this again. If you like SNPA give this a shot, you won't be disappointed.

        True to the Original

I started drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the 70s when it was bottled in 12oz Bud long necks. It is one of the few beers I will purchase to this day. The Cali Mountain really closes in on the flavor and aroma of the SNPA. All my friends really like it and it is super satisfying!

        Really nice kit

This is my first kit from Morebeer & it is a hit. Easy to brew & came out delicious. At 38 IBU's I knew it was too bitter for my taste, so I cut the 60 min. hop boil time to 30 minutes & it came out perfect for my tastebuds. I gave it 2 weeks in the fermenter , then bottled and waited 2 weeks, then a couple days in the fridge & it was drinkable right away. The ones that lasted a couple weeks in the fridge just kept getting better & better. All in all it's highly recommended.

        Can't wait

This beer is going to be amazing. After 7 days in primary the dry hop addition was added. At 10 days the beer was ready for bottling. Tasted amazing flat going into the bottling stage. After one day in the bottle... I couldn't resist and had to try. It already had tiny bubbles at one day and I am excited to see how it will turn out after a couple of weeks. As always, the kits from morebeer are easy to use and turn out amazing results.

        Great tasting Pale Ale

I have to say, this is one of my best brews to date. I did a full boil, fermented for two weeks in an SS Conical, and dry hopped with an additional ounce of citra. Turned out fantastic. Great color and aroma. I would definitely brew this again.

        Tasty Beer

I brewed this and it turned out very tasty. Very similar to SNPA, and all who tried it enjoyed it. I hit 1.056 in the fermenter with 5.5 gallons. Fermented at 68 F for fourteen days and ended at 1.010. Bottle conditioned for fourteen days and cold stored for fourteen days at 38 F. I would recommend this as an easy drinking APA.
