Though it turned out much like Deuchutes, for my personal taste, I'd like my next go-around to be a little less hint of sweetness. Any suggestions on how to modify the recipe?

I don't do many reviews but thought this beer deserved a review. I made this kit as required and added three vanilla beans to the secondary. Two weeks primary three weeks secondary and three weeks in the keg. I only make a couple of dark beers a year and this is the best one I've made in the five years I've been brewing.

Your shippers included instructions for the extract version when I ordered the all grain kit. Also I had to call after 5 days since I did not receive an mail confirming my order. The customer service rep was quite helpful and my order was picked and shipped the next day.

This was my first time brewing a porter. I've tasted a few other home brewer's porters that went wrong, so I was a bit apprehensive. This one turned out fantastic! My OG was a little low, and my FG put me at a low 4.1%. I pitched a single pack of S-04 and fermed at 62F. Fermentation was steady but not crazy. The chocolate flavors are subtle but there and there's no sweetness or any of that lingering sourness that porters and stouts can have. Had friends and other home brewers try it out and it was a hit all around. I'll definitely be brewing this again for the next cold weather.

Used WLP002 yeast and added a vanilla bean & vodka to the secondary, and this is quite honestly one of the very best Porter examples I have ever had. Almost tastes like it was carbonated with Nitrogen it is so smooth. It's an eyebrow raising beer by all who taste it. I will brew this many times more!

This beer came out amazing, it was great having this on draft and it was a great beer for a beginner, will definitely do this batch again

The batch is in the fermenter now, have not tried yet... But the pricing was good... ingredients were fresh and packed well... Brew day went great, hit my OG that I was looking for (in fact we came out slightly higher than expected)... Can’t wait to try...

Haven't kegged it yet but so far it tastes very good. Looking forward to it cold and carbonated.

Good brew. A little more roasty than I had anticipated. I'll drink through it pretty quickly though.

This is a very balanced porter. I followed the recipe to the letter 1.051 OG fermented down to 1.012 for an ABV of 5.1% using Safale US-04 yeast. Fermentation at 64?F for 2 weeks then cold crash at 35?F for 3 days. Force carbed 25psi for 48 hours and was ready to drink. Nice smooth balanced porter, lacks a little body but for the price you can't go wrong. I may add some oatmeal next time. Cheers!

Follow the instructions - use 1098 yeast and you have one to share with your porter friends ---Very good, crisp and flavorful ---- bottled mine for 2 weeks at 70 degreesWould purchase again......
