Fermentis | SafAle™ WB-06 Wheat Beer | Dry Beer Yeast

    Description

    • WB-06 is a highly attenuative yeast strain that provides a fruity and phenolic character that varies with fermentation conditions
    • Ideal for wheat base beers like Belgian Witbiers and German Weizen beers
    • Fermentis active dry yeast offers reliability, ease-of-use, and consistency to home and professional beverage makers across the world

Specialty yeast selected for wheat beer fermentations. Produces subtle estery and phenol flavor notes typical of wheat beers. Allows you to brew beer with a high drinkability profile and presents a very good ability to suspend during fermentation.

This yeast can be pitched directly, but if you prefer to rehydrate, the instructions are below.

Sprinkle the yeast in a minimum of 10 times its weight of sterile water or wort (we suggest 4 oz) at 70°F to 77°F (21 to 25 °C). Do not stir. Leave to rest 15 to 30 minutes. Gently stir for 30 minutes, and pitch the resultant cream into the fermentation vessel.

    • Attenuation: 86-90%
    • Sedimentation Time: Slow
    • Alcohol Tolerance: 9-11% ABV
    • Optimum Fermentation Temp: 64-78°F

*See the technical data sheet below for more information on rehydration, usage and storage.

        LOVE this yeast.

I did an unfiltered wheat beer with this yeast and a low IBU and it was incredible. It imparted apple notes and was the brew had a nice fruity almost sweetness.

        Third Beer, SUCCESS!

This is the first time I made a beer that was tasty. It was my third brew and I did 60% white wheat malt and 30% two row and some flaked oats and Cara pills and some orange peels then I threw a packet of this and I put it under about one or two psi pressure for two weeks at 75° and it has a sort of funky clove flavor, I really enjoy it as a Belgian Whitbier style it almost fermented too much out....so I think my mash temp was a little low, but it's very nice and a little funky compared to standard US 05 yeast.

        Good Product

Worked well for me. Vigorous fermentation with no starter and 5 gallons of wort. Lots of banana flavor, which I wanted.

        Safale WB-06

I use this for most of my wheat beers as it starts quickly and ferments fully .

        Safale WB-06 "Wheat Yeast"

Bought this without researching enough. Reviews made it sound like a Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. I brewed with it and definitely not a Hefe yeast. Made a decent beer, but more like an American wheat or even a Belgian Wit. Yeast performed fine, but be aware if you are expecting a Hefe profile.

        First Time Using Dry Yeast

First time using dry yeast. Really fast starter. Much easier to use and CHEAPER than liquid packs. No starter needed!

        Makes a great hef

Fermented it in an ambient temp of about 70 F and it made a great beer with not an overwhelming amount of banana. The clove and banana were nicely balanced and this sucker really dried out too. Super easy to use and works great.

        Great universal wheat beer yeast.

My go to yeast for a low esther wheat beer.. Mild yeast character, lends itself well to flavorings.

        really good for weizens

good option for wheat beers, I think you have to control the temperature control more in wheat beers and whit this yeast is no the exeption, I have change the temperature whit the same recipe and get really diferent results. but always a good option.

        Awesome American Wheat

Picked up a couple of sachets of this last time I was in Concord. I always keep multiple varieties of dry yeast around; there are certain styles they just work for, and of course sometimes you just need to kick a fermenter in the butt. This produces a really clean wheat flavor profile. American, not Belgian. Think the wheat version of the California (safale 05) profile and you're not far off. Highly recommeded if you want a strong yeast that gets the job done without leaving too much of itself behind.
