I bottled my first batch of Cabernet Sauvignon today. I bought this corker to do it. For small 5 gal batch this was fine but being inexperienced I had some issues. -The ram in the corker gouged the corks so every one is scarred. Small torn pieces were in the corker and ended up in a bottle or two. I used #9 corks which may be the issue. I have also read that #8s are recommended. Tests with #9 came out ok. This unit should have documentation or the website should have instructions as to which corks go with this corker or with standard 750ml bottles. -The adjusting nuts at the top got loose after bottling 24 bottles…before I noticed it. I had heard about this and therefore torqued them tightly before starting bottling. No apparent effect from the loose adjusters but still a bit annoying that it requires attention.

First time to make wine so everything is new to me. However this particular was highly recommended. I was not disapointed when it came time to bottle

I inherited this from a friend. She told me to use synthetic corks with it and so I don't understand why they recommend natural cork. I don't have any problems with it except it is a bit tough to use. I grow a small amount of grapes and only bottle about 25 at a time not much more than 50 bottles total. I'm 60 and that's enough for me. It's been around several years and if it breaks I'd definitely move to a floor model only for the ease of use.
