German Munich Malt - Weyermann® Specialty Malts

    Description

5.1-7 °L - Weyermann® - To increase body, aroma, malty sweetness and a slight biscuit flavor. A great reason to do mini-mashing or all grain brewing. This malt contains about half the enzyme potential of 2-row malt, which is enough to self convert in a mash. It can be steeped in an extract brew to achieve some of the flavor contribution, but will not add any sugars in a steep.

This is a must malt if you looking to construct a true European-style lager.

So much malt flavor and aroma.

The sealed bags from MoreBeer seem to keep the malts fresher, resulting in noticeably MoreFlavor and MoreAroma in my Oktoberfest.

Adds malt depth without the sweetness

I just used this in an extract Pale Ale recipe where I steeped 8oz Munich, 8oz Victory, 8oz Crystal 20 and 8oz Crystal 40. The Munich malt added depth to the whole malt profile and counter-balanced the sweetness of the Crystal malts very well. This beer ended up tasting like crisply sweet honey toasted bread with a dry finish. A fantastic beer and the head retention is out of this world!

Used it in a Belgian Wit as it adds body and a little sweetness , good for European style beers .

        Go to Body Malt

I typically use 15% of the grain bill as Munich Light 7L.This adds body, head retention and mouth feel.Excellent grain

        Experiment

One thing I love about homebrewing is that I can mix and match and try to develop my own recipes. I bought this for that very purpose. I want to find different and unique characters for the current recipes that I fall back on.

        Great Addition to Two-Row

Adding 20% or so Munich to your APA and IPA's adds a deeper level of complexity to your malt without adding sweetness. Using the Munich allows me to use much less Crystal malt in my light beers, keeping the cloying sweetness away.

        Caramel Goodness

Love Munich for those amber beers that you want to create that have a good caramel taste to them. This is the way to go.

        Adds depth, not sweetness

This munich malt adds body & depth to the beer without adding the residual sugar that a caramel malt will add. I love me some munich in a lot of beer recipes.
