I have brewed 20 gallons of a stout recipe with this grain. The first ten gallons I put an extra pound of this in and it definitely had some strong burnt flavors. It was still drinkable but on the strong side. I liked it enough that I made another 10 batch and I used two pounds of this grain instead of three. It is much much better and I will be making it and modifying it again. Great fresh grains from Morebeer.

This adds great black color with just a little grain. Don't overdo it or the burnt roast flavor will overwhelm you, but a little is a great addition.

A little can go a long way! Good quality malt. Good also for adding some color, but I love the roasted notes it imparts.

Great in any dark beer and a touch for adding color in your amber color beers. Grind it fine for your stouts to impart a real roasty character.

Darker than what BeerSmith has loaded up for default. Nice addition in tiny batches to correct color in Ales. Good flavor for porter if used in larger quantity.

I use a small amount of Roasted Barley to add a deep red hue to my red ales and a larger amount to my stouts for a roasted coffee flavor.

Gotta' have some Roasted Barley in yer' stout! A great malt for what it does. I've used it in stouts & many a Scottish ale for that deep roasted dry flavor.
