I have one spear that is not working in any keg. Of course, that was the first try with the tool and I was sorry I had spent the money on the tool. But, in trying to figure out where the problem was, (kegs, spears, tool or me) I switched everything around several times. I did find that it only takes me a few minutes to change a spear now, rather than a temper-filled hour which inevitably ended with sore or cut up hands. I tried various combinations of 3 way clamps and sockets before this and they worked OK sometimes, and I suppose I had to go through those learning experiences, but you don't.

I used to struggle with getting the clips back in... no more! A must have for anyone cleaning a sankey keg!

I love using Sanke kegs and this tool makes breaking them down a lot easier.

This is a great tool which helps you prevent opening your barrels with a hammer and screwdriver, protecting your investment. Also, I would like to take the chance to outline the excellent customer service.

I have yet to use it. It came without instructions. It looks pretty self explanatory, but MoreBeer doesn't sell the clip that holds the spear in and if I need to replace it, I don't know how to get the clip off to start with.

I bought a bunch of used 1/6bbls for my homebrew from a microbrewery when they switched to microstar. I had been using pliers and a screw driver to remove keg straws. It worked but sometimes it would take me 10-15 mins. I still use my same system with pliers and a small screwdriver but now it's so much faster. I can open a keg in about 1-3 mins now. I wish I had bought this when I bought the 1/6bbls; would have saved so much time and swearing...

I was using a diy version built out of an edging clamp and brass spacers before. That was a bit fiddly so I thought treating myself to a bit peace of mind, buying this purpose build device.It is of sturdy build and seems to fit fine. Just hand tightening will get the ring out fairly easy but putting it back in can be a pain.At first I thought it does not push the spear head in enough, to let the retainer ring pop back into please. What I have found out is, that the head is only pushed in towards the side where the metal bracket of the removal tool "hugs" the keg's neck. What helps is to seat the ring as much as it goes, releasing the removal tool until you can turn the body to the other side where the retainer couldn't be seated properly and push the rest of the ring in its designated position.Not ideal, but it works.Also, I would apply wd40 or rather teflon tape (less messy) to thread at the position where it starts compressing the spear.The friction seems to put a toll on the thread otherwise.

make sure you read the fine print at the bottom; this is not a spear removal tool, this is a pressure relief tool for a sanke keg. works well for relieve pressure safely, but you'll need more tools to remove the spear.

Turns out I needed a threaded sanke d spear remover (didn't even know that was a thing). This seemed to function properly, it did let the pressure out of the keg and was well made. I'm keeping it for future use as I'm sure we will eventually have both threaded and drop sanke d kegs.

VERY happy with this tool. It make taking out the Sanke valve much easier by taking the pressure off to remove the ring. I can be a bit tough the first time but after trying to remove the ring with out this, I will never not use this!Besides this is one of those tools that starts a conversation when displayed.Well worth the money.

Tool works great, 4 stars because the threads have a sloppy fit, way too much play for a fine thread. In a production environment this could cause it to strip out but as a homebrewer it will do the job.

Works well and at a significant discount from the keg dealers. I only gave it four stars since i have never used another to compare it to.

I have used this tool twice so far. Found very easy and effective to use. !/3 the the price of the others and works just as well.

This tool is absolutely great for working with Sanke Kegs. It makes removing and reinstalling spears a breaze.
