Easy to install. Much sturdier than the plastic head that comes with the pump. If your going to add a ball valve to your pump, you'll need the stainless steel head.

not sure why they sell the pump with the plastic version , but this is an essential part for the pump.

I thought I got a great deal on an MKII pump with the plastic head, but it wasn't up to the task. I was happy to see a SS replacement available that allowed me to keep the pump (and more importantly all of the fittings I already had in place). The new pump head fit perfectly and is just what I needed to complete my keg washer assembly.

Should have bought this in the first place. I snapped the plastic one that came with the pump when I was tightening up fittings. No such problem with this. Not to mention it’s nice and shiny.

The small pump I have is enough for me, but I really didn't want to run boiling recirculated wort through a plastic pump head, so I got a stainless head and it's been smooth sailing every since. Never had any issues with it, saved the old plastic head in case of an emergency. Quiet, no worries.

It's stainless, but the manufacturing quality leaves some room for improvement. The finishing of the machining is rough and inconsistent, plenty of apprentice marks (maybe mine was done by the apprentice?). I needed to take the dremel out to remove some very sharp metal and areas for material to get stuck behind. It's not that big of a deal, but I'd like it to be better. The one thing I'm not thrilled on is the OD where the pump head mates up to the internal shell (with the o-ring). The plastic one fits perfectly, the stainless one has some slop. I haven't tested it yet to see if it will leak (I don't think it will), but it'll be hard to consistently keep my impeller centered.

Easy to install (2mins tops). Finish is good. Only complaint is that the thread cutting was a little rough (small nicks), but my fittings screwed on without any issues.

Should have ordered this when I first got the pump. I broke the original plastic head tightening up a fitting brewday eve, really took the wind out of my sails. The pump looks much more robust now, and I suspect this will serve its purpose for quite a while, but have only used it for one brew. If you buy the MKII pump, buy this head as well and don't give it a second thought, the plastic one will fail at some point, just a matter of when.

The original head on the MKII is not super for attaching lots of heavy stainless steel. This replacement head upgrades the weakness of the original as others have noted. In the head I received I noticed that the outlet was not polished or beveled, making for possibly difficult cleaning and sanitizing. The tiny surface scratches on the seal area do not seem to affect the seal.There was not a replacement seal included with the head but my new pump's seal looked fine. You may need to order a new seal if your pump is older.

Went straight for metal head on the unit and it performs great.

Almost worth 5 stars, but the item came with damage on the surface that mates to the o-ring on the impeller housing. I took a sheet of 320 grit sandpaper placed on my drill press table (nice flat surface) and rubbed the pump head surface down for a minute or so. You could hear the nicks and dings grinding away for the first few seconds then it went smooth. Placed it on the pump and tested it with a fully primed pump and shutting off the output with a ball valve--no leaks! This little pump ROCKS! I have only tested it the pump with a bucket of water, not during a real brew day, but i don't expect any issues (but will report back if some arise).
