    The D-Style beer tap is the most commonly-used keg coupler in the U.S. If you’re going to serve commercial draft beer that was made in the US and is dispensed from your standard American sankey keg, this is the style tap you’ll need.

    American-made by Taprite, this coupler is constructed from stainless steel and features a lock-down mechanism that produces a satisfying “click” when engaged. Its heavy-duty construction is designed to withstand frequent commercial use, so you know it’ll last for years at home. The 304 stainless body and probe will provide a more reliable life span compared to its nickle-plated counterpart. Features a built-in pressure relief valve for safety.

    To dispense beer, gas is pushed into the keg through the tap’s side port and the beer exits through the top port.

    The tail piece, hex nut or gasket for dispensing beer out of the top port must be purchased separately. We offer a pre-made kit with a 1/4” tailpiece (D1720B), as well as a range of other tailpiece sizes to match whatever diameter beer line you’re using.

        What kind of gasket does it use on the gas side?

        Thank you for your question. This coupler uses the standard "Gas bladder" in the gas side so that it is used as a check valve. If you want to use this couple to fill the keg then you can replace the gas bladder with a standard beer line gasket.

        Where the draft tailpiece fits there is a plastic piece inside (under the red protection cap). Can it be removed? Seems odd for beer to flow through this plastic when buying an all stainless tap. Thanks for your help!

        Yes it can be removed with a pair of needle nose pliers but it's there to prevent backflow into the keg. This is a good feature to have to prevent contamination.

        Do not remove it It is the check ball retainer.

        That plastic piece is in every sankey it’s a tight-fitting triangular locking mechanism to keep the back flow preventing ball under it secure. It can be removed along with the ball under it but then there will be no back flow prevention.

        I'm curious to know if this would fit with a sanke to call lock adapter in my converted kegerator. What is the height of this item?

        If you have height constraints you can use an elbow adapter such as our low profile elbow bend (D1514). This will help adapt to a ball lock fitting without adding much extra height. From the floor to the very top of the coupler assembly on a Microstar 1/6bbl keg is 26 3/8". Cheers!
