Good quality product. I have a lot of experience with the plastic taps breaking over time. They are cheap to replace but I like the quality and durability of this stainless version. I'm planning to convert all my taps to this version. I would suggest getting some silicone paste to use on its threads and lever however. Without it you feel some galling of stainless rubbing on stainless.
I bought this to allow me to attach a 3/8 inch tube for filling a growler, since the spout on the plastic faucet I had wasn't strong enough. Turns out that the feel and pouring from this hand-held was an unexpected bonus.
I have only really used this once when I took a small keg to a friends house, otherwise, not getting much use. Occasionally, I use it to taste a keg that is still conditioning. I like the look of it, has good weight.... did experience a leak because the top fixture wasn't tight enough (no fault, just tightened it). The only other thing, the weight of it does tend to pull it down, when you lay it over a keg it will pull the whole hose with it, where as a plastic one probably wouldn't do that.. So, I used the stainless holder but it's a little wiggly. All very minor stuff...
I like this faucet - more durable than the plastic ones and it's glossy shine attracts the errant and "happy" campers back to the keg on my occasional trips. I may even replace my keg faucets with a couple more of these.

Stainless Steel is a nice upgrade to plastic... get one

I've only had this product for about a week, but it is serving me well so far. Seems solid, well-built and worth every penny! I have had three or four of the cheap plastic picnic taps and was very disappointed in everyone. I believe this product will live a long life!
A great addition to my every growing inventory if cool keg tools. Nicely weighted and super easy to clean. Makes that awesome "clink" sound when hanging it off of a keg. I recommend it highly!
Love the look. On the first keg it leaked. On the second keg it's working now. Too bad the inside has plastic part and not stainless steel.
I like to hefty feel of this tap. I did have some difficulty attaching it to 8mm EVA tubing. After softening the tubing several times in boiling water I was able to work the tap on. When the tubing cooled it locked in tightly.
I was excited to see these as I'm sick of replacing the plastic ones all the time. As another reviewer had happen first use beer al done my pants, the floor an my beer frige with first use. Very irritating. The same fix and it works, but caused me to examine further, disappointed the internals appear to be the same as the plastic ones. I expected something better for the price. Time will tell me if this was a good purchase and/or how rugged it really is.
The taps work well and don't crack from tightening a hose clamp on the hose barb. They were misadjusted out of the box so they were not fully closed. I put one on a keg and suddenly there was beer all over the floor. I took it off and tightened the bonnet nut so the plug went all the way to the seat so it wouldn't leak. Had I not been the mechanical type they would have been returned as defective.
Will this faucet handle higher pressure than the plastic version? I'd like to use it for dispensing Ginger Beer.
Cast zinc not stainless the interals are plastic.
well i just upgraded to the flare nut version. and it's been redisgned internaly. but it held 50psi. i only have 10ft of 3/16" line thought so couldn't try a pour with it...
Keg pressure should not be an issue for the tap. The physics say the length of the tubing provides the necessary counter-pressure to regulate the flow. I run mine with about 10ft of 3/16" i.d. tubing at around 12psi in the keg. Math is based on keg pressure and temp (to get the volumes of co2 you want) plus resistance of tubing per foot plus rise in elevation from the bottom of the beer out tube to the level of the glass. Yes My issues were leaking through the seat with 11 psi in the keg and the hose barb cracking because I tightened the clamps too much. This item solve both problems. Be careful at first. The plug was not adjusted all the way closed when I got them. When I put them on the ball cock beer went everywhere. It's adjusted with the ring just under the handle. Just crank it down so the plug is tight in the seat.
I used this faucet to pour seltzer water and it leaked a little. I have water pressure that is pretty high and was adding CO2(at 35PSI).. I pulled it after 3x20lb tanks emptying pretty quick and am still trying to figure out where the leak was. Short answer it seems on par with the plastic ones only nicer looking and feeling. Long answer I just don't know as I got it all at the same time(continuous carb lid SS picnic tap switch to duotight for gas..) This being said they are pretty sexy(S-E-X-X-Y for TMGB fans) and there is a duotight one coming soon which will be mine.
I am not sure but it works for my hefe which I keep the pressure at 18 psi. It is a heavy faucet and I like it quite a bit.
If you're worried about high pressure I would go with a pluto gun instead. A party tap will fail open a pluto gun will fail closed.
I don't think so. Bought two one leaked for a while. Never had a problem with the plastic one before.
Only the outside of this is stainless steel. The inside seal is silicone just like a regular picnic tap. It seals really well. The silicone stop does not come out easily for cleaning. I usually have to pry the stop out after the spring come loose. That being said I've not used this above 12.5 - 15 PSI.
