The only “lid” is the assembly with gasket for the connected CO2 cartridge and pressure gauge that is clipped to the top of the growler with a stainless steel spring tension clip that keeps the whole assembly firmly sealed! The only warnings are the labels on the CO2 cartridges which are the threaded type that must be screwed into the assembly. To charge the growler with pressure the release valve is rotated clockwise to increase pressure and counter clockwise to reduce pressure. To conserve CO2 I usually turn the pressure valve knob clockwise until the pressure gauge needle shows 5 to 10 lbs Then I close the pressure valve (counterclockwise) before I dispense using the party tap. This is sufficient to fill several glasses before recharging the growler back to 5 to 10 p.s.i. This growler does not actually carbonate beverage! However it will help preserve Pre-carbonated beverage! Also it is helpful to pre-chill the Empty growler Before filling with cold beverage to minimize foaming!

It comes with the pressure lid as well as the regular lid. I don't see any warnings on mine other than maximum psi warning on the bottom.

I just got the lid that maintains pressure- it's attached like a typical swing-top. You adjust pressure as needed to not just maintain carbonation but also push the beer out the attached pour spout. I don't remember any health warnings on it and I do typically pay attention to warning labels like that- however I got mine a while back so it might have some now.

Don’t think it’s meant for that. The little cartridges are to push the beer out for serving not for force carbonation.

Short answer...yes I had an Old Stock Ale clone that didn’t bottle condition very well. This little beauty did the trick. It is NOT as efficient as carbonating in a corny keg but it does give reasonable results.

Yes but regulating the pressure is a little tough. I ended up setting it at about 10# and shaking it till it dropped to 0 then repeating until it didn't drop any more. It will use a lot of CO2 though so be warned.
